Neuro Spinal Surgeons Association – Tamil Nadu (NSSA–TN)
Tamil Nadu, the birthplace of neurosurgery in India, has played a pivotal role in the evolution of this specialty, guided by legendary pioneers such as Prof. B. Ramamurthi and Prof. Chandy. Over the past three decades, spinal surgery has progressed from its early developmental stages to a highly specialised and mature discipline, driven by the dedication and enthusiasm of young neurosurgeons across the state.
The formation of NSSA–TN marks an important milestone in this journey. As a dedicated association comprising neurosurgeons with a passion for neuro-spinal surgery, NSSA–TN aims to further strengthen and advance this subspecialty in Tamil Nadu.
Our primary objective is to support and nurture young neurosurgeons, empowering them to become future leaders in minimally invasive, endoscopic, and deformity spinal surgery. In close collaboration with the national NSSA body, the state chapter will actively organise academic programs, including CMEs, workshops, cadaver-based training, and conferences to promote continuous learning and skill development.
NSSA–TN also encourages contributions to the Journal of Spinal Surgery (JOSS), which is now indexed in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), providing a valuable platform for academic and clinical research.
